ECA Fishing Section

About ECA Fishing Section

The Fishing section of Eastney Cruising Association is a very active section, with club meetings on the first Monday of every month (excluding Bank Holidays when the club meeting moves to the next available day).

At the meetings, the previous month's catches and competitions are discussed and issues debated. New members are most welcome.

The Fishing Section take advantage of the excellent launching facilities of the Club, with two electric winches available, launching the boats directly into the channel between Eastney and Hayling Island. The two slipways also have a wash down area for cleaning boats down after the day's fishing. Boats are stored in the compound in allocated spaces and the club has a 24-hour security marine watch, making the club a very safe place to store equipment.
The fishing section has a club room that houses freezers (for bait and catches), an ice machine and weighing scales for your record catch. There is a sub-section of the fishing section that operates a live sand eel pit, so fresh bait for bass fishing sessions is available.
The Fishing section also runs monthly "club species" competitions and these are well attended, the section is also active in inter-club competitions.

The Species that can be caught locally include Bass, Cod, Wrasse, Spur dog, Smoothound, Rays, Mackerel, Whiting, Conger eel, Gurnard, Plaice, Founder, Bream, Sole, Garfish, Pollack, Mullet, Bull Huss, Dogfish, Ling, Pouting, Rockling and Tope.

If you are interested in joining the fishing section, contact the ECA office or come along to one of the section club meetings.
