ECA Cruising Events
ECA has a proud tradition of organised sailing events both racing and cruising. See ECA Forum for more information on the many cruising events to Solent ports throughout the season and join in the conversation about upcoming events.
Scheduled Race Events
We encourage everyone to take part in our race events, particularly so those that have never done any racing before. We particularly welcome yachts based in Southsea Marina. All our events are Open Events. Our ethos is to make racing events fun and our programme underpins the many social events at ECA and it is aimed at providing fair and enjoyable competition in a friendly club environment.
For many years we have run two series (Spring and Summer) on Wednesday evenings. All these races start at 7pm and take a couple of hours or less. The start and finish line is at our club line at Langstone Harbour Entrance.
Courses are indicated by a “letter” notice displayed from our race hut a few minutes before the start.
Details of our mixed fleet – from classic gaffers to high-performance multihulls – are linked here . All our racing events are run using the RYA’s new Handicap for Cruisers scheme (NHC) which will give us close and exciting handicap racing.
Unless advised otherwise, all ECA races start and finish at our club line at Langstone Entrance (marked with 2 yellow triangles). Starting sequence is the now standard ISAF Five minutes, Four, One, GO! with both flag and sound signals.
A printout of race courses for 2017 will be available for download here soon or is available from ECA on a laminated card. Note that marks labelled as [P] or [S] should be left to Port / Starboard as indicated.
